Woman Mistakenly Charged $420 for State Fair of Texas Coupons

A woman trying to buy coupons for food, rides and games at the State Fair of Texas said she was charged $420 but didn't receive any coupons.

It was supposed to be a fun celebration at the fair Saturday for Christina Ramzel, but she told NBC 5 it turned into a nightmare.

Ramzel said she swiped her credit card in the machine several times and no tickets came out. However, she said her credit card was still charged $420.

"Never got coupons and we turned around after a nasty confrontation in guest services and walked out," Ramzel said.

State Fair of Texas officials told NBC 5 Ramzel has received a refund for the charges, but according to a statement Ramzel provided Monday, the charges are still pending.

NBC 5 spoke with State Fair of Texas officials about the issue.

"We've researched the issue the moment that we found out about it, and it appears that the card that was being put through the machine, the ZIP code wasn't being put in correctly," said Karissa Condoianis, public relations director for the State Fair of Texas.

Condoianis said there haven't been any widespread problems with coupon machines, and that they are working with Ramzel to resolve the dispute.
