Video Captures Students Being Hit At Bus Stops

The students in both cases were not seriously injured

School officials in Austin said two students were struck and injured by vehicles at bus stops this week.

According to Austin NBC station KXAN, a 12-year-old boy was struck by a black truck turning at an intersection in front of a school bus on Monday.

Video captured by a camera mounted on the side of the school bus showed the middle school student standing up shortly after being knocked to the ground.

On Tuesday, a 17-year-old high school student was hit by another teen driver. According to the report, the driver told a witness she didn't know drivers are required to stop for school buses coming from the opposite direction.

The students in both cases were not seriously injured. The 12-year-old boy walked away with some bruises, and the 17-year-old was taken to the hospital to get checked out, KXAN reported.

In both cases, drivers stopped at the scene and were given tickets by police.

Austin Independent School District police said their bus stop arm cameras captured hundreds of violators during the first week of school this year.
