A North Texas figure skater, and U.S. National Medalist, knows what it takes to win gold on the ice as she shares her support for Team USA in Sochi.
Ashley Cain, 18, said despite the fact that no U.S. women figure skaters won a medal, Team USA should be proud.
“Team USA was absolutely fantastic. They showed how strong the U.S. ladies are. We have a lot of great girls coming up,” said Cain.
Cain, a four-time U.S. National Medalist, believes she is poised for 2018. She thinks Gracie Gold and Polina Edmunds will try to go back, but is not sure about Ashley Wagner.

“She is going to have to skate a flawless program," said 18-year-old figure skater Ashley Cain."[space]The top three ladies they have great points right now, and they are practically tied.”

“She is very capable of skating great programs,” said Cain.
Cain skated to 12th place at the U.S. Nationals this season as she fought a bad case of flu.
The Carrollton native relates to the pressure these athletes are feeling, like Julia Lipnitskaia from Russia, who took a huge fall during her short program performance.
“She is only 15 and she had the pressure of Russia on her back, and I think that really affected her,” said Cain.
Cain is coached by her father, Peter Cain, who just got back from Sochi as a technical specialist for the International Skating Union.
He said not to count out the Americans — especially Gracie Gold.
“If she can go out and complete the long program that we think she can do. She has a very high scoring program, if anybody makes a mistake in front of her,” said Peter Cain.
