Dallas police said they blocked off several streets around their headquarters after a woman left a package by the station's front door early Thursday morning. [[320869381,C]]

The unknown woman walked up to the police headquarters at 1400 S. Lamar Street at 2:30 a.m., put a package down and walked away, according to Dallas Police Department Deputy Chief Scott Walton.

Officers saw the woman put the package down and called investigators, who blocked off streets surrounding the station.

Investigators determined there were no explosives in the package, which Walton said was a "gift bag with miscellaneous items."

"This is not an attack," Walton said. "We just had someone walk up and drop a package off."

Officers reopened the surrounding streets just after 5 a.m., but police said they're still investigating the incident.

"It's not unusual for people to bring baked goods and things to the police station," Walton said. "It is unusual for them to drop them off at the front door and not say anything."

NBC 5's Ellen Bryan contributed to this report.
