Dallas Jail Escapee Back in Police Custody

Daniel Brown was discovered missing Sunday Morning from the Suzanne Kays Detention Facility

The Dallas County Sheriff's Office says it has arrested an inmate who escaped from a detention facility Sunday morning.

Daniel Brown, 28, and an accomplice were arrested at about 5:40 p.m. at a Motel 6 in Grand Prairie near the intersection of Interstate 30 and Highway 161. He was reported missing from the Suzanne Kays Detention Facility in Dallas early Sunday morning.

Brown's accomplice, Dieasha Owens was also arrested because police said they believe she helped Brown escape.

She is being charged with facilitating escape, which is a felony.

According to the sheriff's office, Brown was assigned to work in the kitchen area and detectives believed he may have escaped through the dock area.

At about midday Sunday, Dallas Sheriff's Detectives said they believed Brown could have been traveling with Owens, 28.

Brown was in jail after being arrested by Dallas police on March 19 for five charges of theft of property between $2,500-$30,000. Each charge had a bond set of $50,000. Brown also had a hold from the Missouri Parole Board for a parole violation. The Texas Department of Corrections and Harris County Sheriff's Office also had holds on him while in custody.
