Shady Shores Cleans Up As Flood Waters Recede

There’s still a long way to go, but residents of Shady Shores are starting to clean up after flood waters took over their neighborhoods.

Last weekend, some residents had to evacuate their homes in the Denton County community, as Lake Lewisville spilled over into the streets.

As of Tuesday morning, though, neighbors said the water had receded at least a foot in places.

Residents like Judy Stewart had begun cleaning up their yards and getting cars back into driveways that had been cut off.

"Got into our gardens, got into our pool, our hot tub was floating. Of course, it's ruined,” said Stewart.

Several roads remain closed throughout the neighborhoods, but many are hopeful those will reopen soon if things continue to dry up.

However, many believe it will be much longer, possibly late into summer before they can travel Shady Shores Road again, which is now deep under water between town hall and the city of Corinth.

The Texas Water Development Board monitors showed Tuesday that Lake Lewisville was still well above conservation pool levels, but the levels have dropped by more than half a foot since Sunday.
