Police Investigating Shooting in Stephenville

The Stephenville Police Department says they are currently working reports of a shooting just south of the city limits near Farm to Market 914 and County Road 454.

Just after 6 p.m., the department sent out tweets indicating that this was an active shooting call.

Then just after 7 p.m., the department sent out an update saying per the Erath County Sheriff Department, this is not an active shooter situation, but the suspect remains at large.

Erath County Sheriff Deputies got reports of the shooting just after 5:30 p.m.

Currently Stephenville Police Officers and Erath County Sheriff Deputies are on scene investigating.

Stephenville Police say there are no reports of injuries at this time.

The shooter is described as a white man with brown hair wearing blue jeans and a blue denim shirt.

Investigators believe that the man is on foot in that area and armed.

Anyone nearby is advised to stay indoors until police can release further information.

Tarleton State University sent out a tweet saying there is no danger to campus and that the shooting incident was miles away.
