Grand Prairie Animal Services is making it a little easier to adopt a pet this holiday season, by bringing your new family member directly to you for Christmas.
This year the Prairie Paws Adoption Center is offering people the option to come to the shelter and adopt a pet, but instead of taking that pet home with you right away people can choose to have the animal delivered on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning.
The shelter is calling it the "Pawlar Express" and it will be delivering adopted pets between 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve and 8 a.m. to noon on Christmas Day.
If you're wanting to get onboard the "Pawlar Express" you have to make it to the shelter and choose your new family member by 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22.
The shelter said the usual adoption process, including an application and adoption fee still applies, but there is not an extra charge to have the pet delivered.
The Prairie Paws Adoption Center is located at 2222 W. Warrior Trail in Grand Prairie.

THE "PAWLAR EXPRESS" TO DELIVER ADOPTED ANIMALS TO NEW HOMES ON CHRISTMAS
GRAND PRAIRIE- Adopters can make Christmas more magical this year by having their newly adopted pet delivered to their door on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day by "Santa Paw's" elves! Adopters are invited to visit Prairie Paws Adoption Center, 2222 W. Warrior Trl., Wednesday, Dec. 19 through Saturday, Dec. 22 to meet with adoptable animals. Animals with the special "Pawlar Express" train ticket on their kennels are eligible to be delivered to their new "furever" homes on the "Pawlar Express."
Once an adopter chooses a pet, the normal adoption process will follow, but if the adopter chooses, instead of taking the pet home at the time of adoption, Santa's elves will deliver the pet to the new home! The "Pawlar Express" will be making deliveries between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Christmas Eve and 8 a.m. and noon on Christmas Day.
Though there are many adorable cats and dogs that need new homes, Santa and his elves are pretty busy this time of year so deliveries are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Deliveries will be made to homes in Grand Prairie, and homes in Arlington and Mansfield will be on case-by-case basis. Adoption fees are $70. There is no extra cost to have the pet delivered, though donations are welcome.
Animals must already be spayed or neutered to ride the Pawlar Express. Animals will be vaccinated and microchipped prior to arrival.
The Prairie Paws Animal Shelter's regular operating hours are:
Tuesday-Friday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Saturday: Noon - 6 p.m.
Closed Sunday and Monday
