Man Arrested After Driving at Officers

Sleeping man found to be in stolen car, police say

One person is under arrest after trying to elude police with an officer on the hood of his car.

According to police, officers spotted a suspicious vehicle parked in a park overnight Tuesday.  The officer noticed someone was sleeping inside and, when the car turned out to be stolen, called for backup.

Once backup arrived the officers ordered the person inside to get out of the car.

Instead of following the directions of the officers, the person started to drive off with one of the officers on the hood of the car.  The officer freed himself from the hood shortly before the driver turned the car around and drove toward both of the officers.

Fearing for their lives, the officers fired at the driver, who then crashed into a tree.

The driver was taken into custody and eventually transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released for minor injuries.

The driver is now being questioned by police.
