A major rollover crash in Arlington closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 20 near state Highway 360 and the westbound entrance ramp from southbound 360 for more than an hour Wednesday afternoon.
The entire roof of the sport utility vehicle had been cut away to allow rescuers to remove the trapped person. That person, whose condition is not yet known, was flown by air ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
The crash took place just past the mixmaster at I-20 and SH360.
At this time, no other injuries have been reported. The cause of the rollover crash remains under investigation, but it appears to involve only one vehicle.
At about 4:45 p.m., two westbound lanes of traffic are being allowed to pass the crash in the service lane. At about 5:30 p.m., the westbound ramp from 360 to I-20 was reopened to traffic, though traffic is moving slowly.
At this time it is not known when the remaining lanes of I-20 will open to traffic.
Traffic along westbound I-20 is backed up well into Grand Prairie. Drivers are urged to avoid the area if possible. Onlooker delays are slowing traffic in the eastbound lanes of the highway as well.
