Local Parties Start Final Push to Election Day

Decision 2016 is now down to single digits.

As of Sunday there were only 9 more days before voters go to the polls and decide some major elections; including the next president of the United States.

For the local politically passionate that means there will be little rest until November 8.

Local Republican volunteers manned the phones all weekend in Tarrant County where they said they’ll continue calling every last supporter on their lists to encourage them to get out and vote.

The call center was decorated with several signs to hype supporters up about their local and national candidates, but one sitting promptly at the front simply said “Keep it Red” over a picture of Texas.

With poll numbers closer in the Lone Star State than they’ve been in decades, volunteers said it’s important that they mobilize their base.

Because on the other side, they’re mobilizing to turn Texas blue.

Democrats in Dallas spent Sunday at local churches and polling places trying to encourage their voters to get out early too.

Their volunteers echoed the non-stop mentality for the next nine days.

"It really is like 4th quarter and it's tied and you need that one last play,” said volunteer Jara Butler.

So far, local counties have had record turnouts for early voting as the races on the ballot, especially the tense presidential race draw a lot of interest to the election.
