Grand Prairie Police Announce First Black Deputy Chief

Monday will mark a first in Grand Prairie with the historic promotion of the city's first black deputy chief.

Lt. Larry Simmons will become the first black man to hold the rank of deputy chief in the department's 105-year history. 

Also, sergeants Stephen Davis and David Rhodes will be promoted to the rank of lieutenant.

Officers Raymond Anguiano and Christoper Weis will be promoted to sergeant.

The promotion ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. at the Grand Prairie Police Station.
