Giving Tuesday Helps North Texas Nonprofit Groups

Giving Tuesday is the unofficial start of the “Season of Giving” for many across the country and several North Texas nonprofit organizations are hoping to use the day to raise money and awareness for their causes.

In Dallas, the United Way is leading a coalition of more than 60 nonprofit groups to maximize efforts. The group is tracking their Giving Tuesday efforts at The group also plans to deliver 1,000 meals to home-bound community members.

In Tarrant County, many organizations are hoping charitable hearts help out on Giving Tuesday.

Recycled Love Animal Rescue has been in operation since 2014. They are a small group making a big difference.

"The rescue has 25 [dogs]. We have about 4 or 5 foster homes. We also have about 25 cats," Vicki McClure explained.

McClure said days like Giving Tuesday are important for smaller nonprofit organizations that don’t traditionally get a lot of attention.

"We always need money and we need foster families to help have the little dogs in their house to get them used to being touched. Some of them have never been touched,” she said.
