Denton-Native Austin Jackson Designated for Assignment

The Denton-native is unlikely to appear in a hometown jersey

The Texas Rangers announced that outfielder Austin Jackson has been designated for assignment.

Jackson, who played for Denton Ryan High School, was acquired with right-handed pitchers Jason Bahr and Cory Gearrin from the San Francisco Giants for a player to be named later.

He was batting .242 with 13 RBIs in 59 games for the Giants. The Rangers have 10 days to trade, release or outright move Jackson to the minor leagues.

The clubs major league roster is now at 39 players.
