Dallas Police Need Help Identifying Man After Downtown Attacks

Dallas police are asking for help identifying a man they say attacked two women early Saturday morning after they left Deep Ellum.

Investigators said the first attack occurred at about 2 a.m. as the man gave a woman he met in Deep Ellum a ride home. At some point during the ride, police said, the man sexually assaulted the woman. She was able to leap from the man's vehicle in the area near Mockingbird Lane and North Central Expressway.

Less than an hour later, at about 2:57 a.m., a woman was walking home near the intersection of Elm and Harwood streets in downtown when she was grabbed by a man. The woman's boyfriend, who was on the phone with her at the time, ran to the intersection when he heard her scream into the phone. The victim's boyfriend fought off the attacker who ran from the area before police arrived.

The second victim described the man as black, between 20- and 30-years-old,  standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds.

"We are asking for the public’s assistance identifying this suspect. This suspect is responsible for two sexual assault attacks on two victims within a relatively short time span. We need to get him off the streets," Dallas police said Monday.

Dallas police released a short surveillance video of a man walking down a city street. (Police said the timestamp in the video is not the correct time.) Police said that man is wanted for questioning in connection with the attacks. The man in the video was wearing a grey and black baseball cap, blue jeans, black athletic shoes, a white T-shirt and a long gold chain.

Anyone has any information on the man's identity is asked to contact Detective Holmes with the Dallas Police Department Crimes Against Person Division by phone at 214-671-3637 or email at alan.holmes@dpd.ci.dallas.tx.us.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information called into Crime Stoppers that lead to the arrest and indictment for this felony offense and other felony offenses. Call Crime Stoppers at: 214-373-TIPS (8477), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
