Dallas Neighborhood Plagued by Spike in Burglaries

A recent spike in residential burglaries in the neighborhoods surrounding Webb Chapel from Northwest Highway to Walnut Hill has Dallas police going on the offensive.

A thief recently broke into Sally Weaver's North Dallas home.

"I felt violated. I was terrified. I didn't want to go in the house if they were still in there," she said. "They had gone through all the closets and drawers and stole a lot of small stuff."

Police said they are flooding the area with a specialized team of marked and unmarked units who go actively looking for criminals, trying to catch them in the act.

Tuesday, as a direct result of their work, police said they arrested a prolific burglar that may be responsible for up to five break-ins in the area.

"We actually found him with stolen property in his possession, we have a good case against him," said Dallas Police Lt. Paul Stokes.

Due to the ongoing investigation police did not want to release the suspect's name.
