Dallas police say a man is in critical condition after he was shot in the face escaping an angry mob.
The altercation took place at a gas station at 11111 Walnut Hill Lane at about 11:30 p.m. Oct. 2.
According to police, a family had been filling up their moving truck when they accidentally locked their keys inside. Frustrated with how the vehicles were blocking his gas pumps, an employee of the convenience store demanded the man and his wife to move the vehicles, police said.
After growing frustrated with the man's inability to move either vehicle, at least two of the store's customers started beating on the windows of the manβs car, according to police.
Leaving the moving truck and trailer behind, the man, his wife, and their three children got into their SUV in an attempt to escape, police said. While driving away the man struck other vehicles in the lot while nearly running over bystanders, according to a police statement.
The convenience store employee, identified as 50-year-old Zafar Ali Raza, saw what was going on outside the store and fired into the car, according to investigators.
The driver, Michael Rodgers, was shot in the face. He was in critical condition when paramedics rushed him to the hospital.
