COPS RECOVER GOODS FROM SOME CAR BURGLARIES
McKinney police said they recovered roughly $20,000 worth of goods that were stolen from unlocked vehicles in a monthlong crime spree. After more than 140 car burglaries were reported in 30 days, investigators began to track down the stolen goods online and on the street. Police have made five arrests, but say many more people are burglarizing vehicles. Read more on NBCDFW.com.
WOMAN: I DIDN'T HIT KID IN WHEELCHAIR
A 23-year-old Waco woman who is accused of striking a 13-year-old boy in a wheelchair told the Dallas Morning News she "didn’t touch" the child. Police said Mikka Shardai Cline hit a presurgical halo screwed into the boy's skull during a scuffle over a ball. Cline said the boy's uncle took a soccer ball her family had been playing with. She said she confronted the boy and asked for the ball back after police became involved but did not hit him. Cline is charged with injury to a child and is free on $1,500 bail.
3-TIME DALLAS ROBBER SENTECED TO 23 YEARS
A three-time convicted robber is returning to prison after he was sentenced to 23 years for a 2007 armored car robbery in Dallas. Donald Ray Williams pleaded guilty to interference with commerce by threats or violence, and to using a firearm related to a crime of violence. He must pay restitution of more than $1.3 million. Records show Williams and another man previously robbed a Dallas bank in 1981 and an armored car in Dallas in 1988.
FORT WORTH MAN SENTENCED TO 7 YEARS IN SHOOTING
A judge sentenced a 21-year-old man to seven years in prison in the death of a friend, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. Aaron Collier pled guilty to manslaughter in the shooting death of Vernon Ray Scott. Prosecutors said Collier didn't mean to shoot the victim but had been "playing around with a loaded handgun." The man's teenage brother had been shot to death in the same apartment complex a few months earlier.
3 ARRESTED IN POT TRAFFICKING OPERATION
Authorities said they found 170 pounds of marijuana and more than $37,000 in cash in a major trafficking organization in a workshop in the 1500 block of County Road 810 near Egan. Investigators arrested three men Monday at the workshop. The Johnson County Sheriff's Department said Ricardo Jiminez, 33; Cesor Rios, 45; and Adam R. Contreras, 27, are charged with felony possession of marijuana over 50 pounds but less than 2,000 pounds. They each have a bond of $75,000.
