Police said two people driving a stolen white 2007 Ford van stole an ATM from a PLS Check Cashers store in the 6500 block of Skillman Street at about 4 a.m.

The clerk told NBC 5 that one of the people wore a mask and put a chain around the ATM that was bolted to the ground and ripped it out when they drove away.

"I am not really sure why they chose this one," Dallas Police Department Sgt. Wardell Carraby said. "The access is easier since the doors are not locked, so it's easy access for them to get in."

The clerk was not injured.

The store has surveillance cameras and Dallas police have a camera mounted on a nearby pole, but no video has been released.

NBC 5's Josh Ault contributed to this report.
