Interstate 35E was closed in Dallas Tuesday morning after police found what was later determined to be a fake grenade inside a vehicle that had been involved in a fatal crash.
Officers found the device after searching the vehicle, which had been involved in a crash at about 6:15 a.m. Tuesday.
By 8 a.m., all lanes of I-35E were closed between Walnut Hill Lane and Royal Lane as a bomb squad unit investigated the vehicle.
Police said the grenade was a dummy.
The driver of the vehicle was deceased.
All lanes were reopened at about 9:45 a.m.
