Authorities are working to identify human remains recovered in the rubble of a Dallas condominium destroyed in a 7-alarm fire last weekend.
A Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman confirmed Monday morning firefighters found a body on the third floor of the Preston Place complex at 6200 West Northwest Highway.
The fire, first reported late Friday night, engulfed the 60-unit complex, which was mostly occupied by older adults.
Firefighters spotted the body while atop a ladder they raised over the site. Because of safety concerns, the department's Urban Search and Rescue team planned to be lowered into the area to recover the body.
The identity of the person has not been confirmed.
