Bat at Texas School Tests Positive for Rabies

Hays County and state officials say a bat found at a junior high school has tested positive for rabies.

The Austin American-Statesman reports the animal was found at Danforth Junior High School in Wimberley on Friday afternoon. Department of State and Health Services officials tested the bat after it was captured and announced the results Tuesday.

County and state officials have asked parents to check whether their children may have come into contact with the animal.

It's unclear where at the school it was found.
