Accused Child Molester Found Incompetent To Stand Trial

A 66-year-old Keller man accused of sexually assaulting several children has been found incompetent to stand trial, the Star Telegram reports.

State District Judge Scott Wisch of Fort Worth last week ordered Clinton Don Simpson committed to Vernon State Hospital for up to 120 days. He's under house arrest until a vacancy opens at the hospital.

He'll face trial on 14 child molestation charges once he's deemed mentally competent. Among those are 10 counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Simpson operated Mr. Don's Whistlestop in his backyard until October 2007. That's when a 3-year-old girl told police Simpson had touched her inappropriately.
