An instructional aide for specials needs students in the Weatherford ISD died Monday, possibly from complications of the flu.

The Weatherford ISD reported Angela Ward of Mary Martin Elementary died Monday night at Fort Worth's Plaza Medical Center. According to a district news release, tests indicated she had pneumonia and Type A influenza.

Administrators will send a letter home with students about Ward's death and the district will provide additional counselors at the campus.

β€œOur hearts go out to the Ward family in the devastating loss of their wife, mother, and family member,” WISD Superintendent Dr. Deborah Cron said. β€œAngie was a valued team member of Martin Elementary and Weatherford ISD. She will be missed by the children she served, the staff she worked with, and the families of the Martin community.”

The 43 year old Ward worked at Martin Elementary since August 2005. She is survived by her husband and three children.
