Quitman Soldier, 3 Others Killed in Afghanistan

The Department of Defense has released the names of the four soldiers killed by a roadside bomb Saturday in Afghanistan.

28-year-old Sgt. Joshua David Powell of Quitman, Texas and three other military policemen were killed while on patrol in Laghman Province on June 4.

Powell joined the Army in May 2004, according to KLTV in Tyler this was his fifth tour of duty.

KETK reports Powell was a 2001 graduate of Quitman High School.
 
Also killed were Cpl. Christopher Roger Bell, 21, of Golden, Miss., Spc. Devin Arielle Snyder, 20, of Cohocton, N.Y., and Pfc. Robert Lee Voakes, Jr., 21, of L'Anse, Mich.

They were alll assigned to the 793rd Military Police Battalion, 3rd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.
