Police Identify Man Who Drew Gun While Driving in Lancaster

Man claimed he was in fear of woman with camera, police say

Lancaster police say they have identified and questioned the man who pulled out a gun while driving on Interstate 35E, and that he claimed he was acting in self-defense.

The man told police Monday he was in fear of his life when he noticed a woman driver approach him with something in her hand which he believed to be a weapon, police said. That object turned out to be a camera.

Lancaster police say they have received several tips regarding the possible identity of a man who reportedly pulled a gun out while driving on Interstate 35E.

Police have not identified the man but say charges will be filed as early as Tuesday. The possible charges include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon or deadly conduct, police said.

The other driver, Victoria Best, posted the video on Facebook. The post has already been shared more than 20,000 times.

The incident happened on I-35E, just south of Interstate 20.

"It was really the look on his face that scared me," Best said. "I wasn't sure if I wasn't recording if he would have shot me."

Best said she had been driving to work and began to notice the driver in front of her hitting his brakes aggressively.

She said it is possible he may have felt she was driving too close to his vehicle.

She began to record the man in case he caused a crash, said Best.

She told NBC 5 she did not know the man had pointed the gun at her until she looked at the video later.

She said she did not look toward the driver and only pointed her phone in his direction.

Lancaster police are looking for a man who reportedly pulled a gun out while driving on I-35E - the search is in response to a Facebook post by a woman who felt threatened by the man's actions.

NBC 5's Charles Nichelson contributed to this report.
