Dallas police have made arrests in the case of expensive, heavy planters stolen off front porches in Dallas, Highland Park and University Park.
Last Thursday police released released surveillance footage of the bizarre Dec. 6 theft from a home in Preston Hollow. It showed three men getting out of a vehicle, loading the heavy planters into the back of a white sport utility vehicle and taking off.
On Friday, a detective spotted a suspicious vehicle and stopped the late 1990's white Chevrolet/Geo Tracker near Preston Road and Waggoner Drive. During the traffic stop Det. Matt Hebert saw several pots, urns and postal packages inside the vehicle.
One of the people in the vehicle told the officer he sells the items to a person at a home in Dallas.
Hebert, unaware of the recent thefts involving pots stolen from porches, obtained a search warrant for the home in Dallas. On Tuesday, police executed the warrant and recovered 66 flower pots averaging in value from $200 to $5,000.
Four people were arrested in connection with the thefts. Police said the arrests should clear multiple cases in Dallas and the Park Cities.
