Police Blotter: Body Found in Trunk

Body Found in Trunk
Police are investigating a dead body found wrapped in plastic in the trunk of a car in southern Dallas. It may be connected to a robbery and aggravated kidnapping report from early Thursday. Crimes Against Persons' Robbery Detectives discovered the body around 1 a.m. Friday in the 5900 block of Highland Village Drive, near Bonnie View and Simpson Stuart roads, as they monitored the car of a missing 38-year-old man. Detectives can’t name the body as that of the kidnapped man until the Dallas County medical examiner’s office identifies it. Dead Man Found in Van
The investigation continues into the death of a man Fort Worth police found when they pulled over a van on the city’s west side. Two men were driving the van, which police pulled over Thursday on West Loop 820. They were trying to get help for the victim, who was shot in the chest during a dispute. The two men were not arrested and the shooter remains at large, according to police. The mdical eaminer's web site identifies the man as 26-year-old Corey Pruitt of Fort Worth.

Woman Found Dead in Car
Garland police found the body of 19-year-old Decia Hartfield inside her Oldsmobile Thursday afternoon. A gunshot wound was the cause of death. Hartfield's boyfriend, 19-year-old Ronnie Bass was taken into custody at the scene and later charged with her murder. Hartfield was pregnant at the time of her death.

Stolen Truck Slams Into Big Rig
An Irving police officer eyed a suspicious truck early Friday morning. The black pickup came back as stolen after he ran the plates and the driver fled when the officer attempted to pull him over. The driver of the truck lost control as he tried to turn from the southbound state Highway 183 service road onto westbound Mockingbird Lane. After knocking over a traffic light, the truck slammed in to the trailer of an 18-wheeler. The driver of the 18-wheeler wasn’t hurt, but the female passenger of the stolen truck had minor injuries and its driver was merely shaken up.
