Photo Released of Woman Wanted in Attack on Elderly

Police release photo of woman wanted in robberies of elderly shoppers

Fort Worth police released Wednesday a surveillance photo of woman who may be involved in the robbery of a 90-year-old woman who was attacked outside her home in October after a trip to the grocery store.

The same woman is also a person of interest in a series of nine or 10 similar attacks on senior citizens since then, said Fort Worth police Lt. Paul Henderson.

Investigators said they believe the victims were all followed home after grocery shopping. Some of the attacks have been violent.

Detectives recently obtained the photo after poring over old surveillance video, Henderson said.

It shows the woman leaving an Albertsons near Loop 820 and Bridgewood Drive in east Fort Worth the day the 90-year-old was robbed. The woman may work with a male accomplice, police said.

Some of the robberies involved male thieves. Police told the Star-Telegram earlier this month that they do not believe the same people are responsible for all of the incidents, because the crimes occurred at varying times of day and had different descriptions of the robbers.

Fort Worth police said there have been more than 10 strong-arm-type robberies of elderly victims in Fort Worth since September.

The crimes have put senior citizens in Fort Worth on edge, and police have warned them to beware of people following them home from the grocery store.

Police urge anyone who recognizes the woman in the photo to call Crimestoppers, which is offering a $1,000 reward.
