Parents Sentenced for Scalding 10-Month-Old

A Pasadena man was sentenced to 12 years in prison and his wife received probation for injuring their 10-month-old son who died after being scalded.

A Harris County judge sentenced 24-year-old William Cain and 22-year-old Vickie Cain last week. Both pleaded guilty to charges of child injury by omission in the death of William Jace Cain.

The baby was scalded form the waist down and had suffered cardiac arrest when his parents brought him to the hospital in March 2013. Authorities ruled his death a homicide caused by "complications of thermal injuries."

Vickie Cain received deferred adjudication pending successful completion of probation and 240 hours of community service.
