Fort Worth's annual Mayfest festival will award nearly $300,000 in grants this week designed to improve the quality of life for people in the city.

The festival made the announcement Monday that due to the "unprecedented" success of Mayfest 2017, three of their founding organizations would receive grants totaling $289,900.

  • Kids in the Kitchen - empowers youth to make healthy lifestyle choices

All profits from Mayfest, more than $7.4 million to date, are distributed to the founding organizations that support the greater Fort Worth area through the beautification and recreational development of the Trinity River and Fort Worth parks, as well as vital community programs.

Mayfest 2017 was, according to organizers, the most successful festival in its 45-year history.

The 46th annual Mayfest is scheduled to take place May 3 - 6, 2018.
