Kaufman County Constable Injured in Chase

A Kaufman County constable was hospitalized Monday evening after rolling his vehicle while pursuing a speeder along U.S. 175 between Kaufman and Kemp.

The crash happened at about 6:30 p.m., Department of Public Safety Trooper Kyle Bradford said.

The Kaufman County Precinct 4 constable was attempting to stop a speeding car when the left rear tire of his vehicle blew out, causing it to roll approximately four times, Bradford said.

The constable's name is not being released.

He was conscious and talking when he was flown by a medical helicopter to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Bradford said.

The vehicle the constable was pursuing at the time of the crash did not stop, but the driver may not have been aware of the accident, Bradford said.
