โ€œFreak Waveโ€ Quickly Sank Boat: Rescued Fisherman

John Reynolds and the other four members on a fishing boat off the Texas Gulf Coast couldn't make it back to shore after coming upon some thunderstorms.

So, they tied the vessel, called the Nite Owl, to an oil rig and turned in for the night, not worried because they'd been through worse weather.

But early Friday morning, Reynolds says a "freak wave" hit the side of the boat, sending their captain overboard and sinking the vessel within two minutes.

One crew member tried to reach the captain while Reynolds and the two others saw a life raft. Reynolds was the only one who reached it.

He was later rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard. The search for the four other fishermen continued Sunday.
