Fort Worth to Open Only 1 Pool This Summer

Fort Worth's budget problems have trickled down to the city's public pools.

The Star-Telegram reports that six of the city's seven public swimming pools will be closed this summer.

The Forest Park pool is the only one that will remain open, and it will be open Memorial Day Weekend.  From June 5 through Aug. 15, it will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

But residents are left completely out to dry.  The city is paying the YMCA $7,000 so that, beginning in June, residents will be allowed to use four YMCA pools between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Residents will still be required to pay a small admission of $1 for children and $1.50 for adults.
