‘Ellen' Show Tapes Segment at University of North Texas

The Ellen DeGeneres Show made its way to the University of North Texas in Denton on Wednesday.

A packed crowd surrounded a pop-up set on the Library Mall to talk to DeGeneres live via satellite from her studios in Burbank, Calif., and take part in a segment taping.

The popular daytime talk show host teased a North Texas appearance for days on her Twitter account before finally tweeting Tuesday afternoon: “Hey University of North Texas - my show's coming to Denton tomorrow. That’s right. Denton. You don’t want to miss this.”

By 11 a.m. Wednesday students and fans from around town started converging on the staging area on campus to get spots close to the front.

Many held signs and eventually put together elaborate costumes after DeGeneres tweeted instructing them to dress like presents for a better chance at getting on air.

UNT students are in the middle of their finals week and many even admitted to skipping out on studying or even entire exams to be a part of the event.

Eventually DeGeneres showed up on a monitor at about 5:30 p.m. and gave the crowd their tasks for a challenge she’d put together.

To see exactly what that challenge was and what the big winners walked away with, you can watch the segment on Thursday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show at 3 p.m. on NBC 5.
