Deadly Crash Near Railroad Tracks in Collin County

One man is in the hospital and two others are dead after a crash in Murphy Friday night.

Murphy police said three people were involved in the crash that happened at about 5 p.m. on Farm-to-Market Road 544 and Brand Road, close to the railroad tracks.

Two men were killed and a third man was injured in the crash, according to the Murphy Police Department.

The crash happened when the vehicle, a two-door red Nissan Maxima, was traveling westbound on FM 544 when it veered off the roadway, police said. It then soared over the guardrail and collided with a speed limit sign before stopping about 100-feet away, next to railroad tracks that cross FM 544, Murphy police said.

Two men were ejected from the vehicle and were declared dead at the scene.

Police do not know if the third man was ejected from the vehicle. That survivor was taken to a hospital. His condition is unknown.

Murphy Police Chief G.M. Cox said this crash was the city's first fatal crash in five years, and the most violent he had ever seen.

The City of Murphy identified the victims of the crash as Justin T. Willford, 20, of Murphy, and Thomas G. Allen, Jr., 20, of Wylie.

Authorities continue to investigate this crash.
