Dallas Police Chase Ends With Arrest

Dallas police were involved in a chase Thursday with at least one person suspected in a robbery at a mobile phone store, NBC 5 has learned.

Police said the driver of a SUV was wanted in connection with the robbery of the Cell Phone City store on the 900 block of West Jefferson Boulevard at Tyler Street Thursday afternoon.

Dallas police sources tell NBC 5 that the employee in the store pulled out a gun and shot at the suspect, who then ran out of the store and got into a vehicle.

Initial reports that the driver was suspected in a series of mobile phone store robberies were not accurate.

The driver led police from Oak Cliff toward Interstate 35E and into downtown. From there he went east on Interstate 30 toward Highway 80 where he eventually stopped and was arrested west of the Big Town exit.

The northbound lanes of Interstate 35 near the Dallas Zoo were temporarily closed Thursday while police searched for an item, or items, thrown out of the getaway vehicle during the chase. The highway has since been reopened to all traffic.

Initial reports indicate only one person has been taken into custody.

NBC 5's Ray Villeda contributed to this report.
