Championship Rings Returned to Former Baylor Player

Keller Police have recovered six championship rings stolen from a high school football coach.

Roger Benefield, a semi-retired volunteer coach at Keller High School, had his rings stolen on Tuesday afternoon.

Benefield was at a QuikTrip on Davis Boulevard and Bear Creek Parkway when a man approached him, asking for spare change.

Benefield gave the man some cash and went inside the gas station to buy a drink. He returned to his truck to find all six of his rings were gone.

Police did not immediately announce further details of how the rings were recovered.

The rings included a 1974 Baylor University conference championship, which he earned as a player, and two state championship rings as a football coach at Grapevine High School.

Former Baylor offensive lineman Roger Benefield has his football rings back after they were stolen from his truck Wednesday.

NBC 5's Chris Jose contributed to this story.
