UPDATE: Keller police announced Thursday that all six of Roger Benefield's rings had been recovered. Police did not release further details.

It is rare to see a high school football coach in tears, let alone a former Baylor University offensive lineman.
Roger Benefield was at a QuikTrip in Keller Tuesday when a man approached him.
"This guy came up to me and said, 'Sir, can you spare some money? I've got my wife over here in the car and we're out of gas,'" Benefield said.
Benefield gave the man some cash and went inside the gas station to buy a soda. He said the windows on his pickup truck were rolled down and the doors unlocked.
Benefield said when he was at the cash register, he noticed the man close the truck's passenger door.

"I bolted for the door and he was walking around the back of the truck and I said, 'Hey what are you doing? Did you get something out of my truck?' He said, 'I'm not a thief, I'm not a thief. I swear,'" he said.
Benefield said the man took six football rings from the middle console in his truck.
"They're priceless to me," Benefield said. "These are things I want to hand down to my family."
Benefield usually keeps his rings inside his house, but he wears them for important Baylor games and sports banquets. He last wore them at the Baylor game last weekend.
The stolen rings include a 1974 Baylor University conference championship, which he earned as a player, and two state championship rings as a football coach at Grapevine High School.
"They're priceless to me and I would do anything to get them back," said Benefield.
