Residents of a west Fort Worth neighborhood ordered to boil their water over the weekend after recent water samples tested positive for coliform bacteria are in the clear.
According to the city of Fort Worth, residents who live along Farnsworth Avenue between Horne and Prevost streets in Fort Worth’s Como neighborhood no longer need to boil their water after recent tests showed water quality has returned to normal.
The boil advisory was lifted Monday morning.
“I want to thank the residents of the affected area for their patience as we worked though the matter,” Water Director Chris Harder said. “I also want to express my appreciation to the staff who worked around the clock to provide the bottled water, flush the water line, perform the sampling and testing, and answer customer questions.”
Harder said Saturday they issued the boil notice as a precaution and that it was "extremely unusual for the Fort Worth water system to see multiple repeat samples test positive for total coliforms."
While the advisory was in effect, the Fort Worth Water Department said it would provide bottled water for residents on the north and south sides of the 5200 to 5600 blocks of Farnsworth Avenue.
Testing was prompted after a resident complained about cloudy water on Monday. Water was tested a second time on Friday and came back positive for the bacteria.

"Total coliforms are not harmful, but can be an indicator of possible problems. The samples did not test positive for E. coli. The test results did not require the City to issue the notice, but officials did so as a precaution," the city said in a prepared statement.
