13-Year-Old Accused in Conroe Storekeeper's Death

A 13-year-old boy has been charged with capital murder in the slaying last month of a Montgomery County convenience store owner.

Sheriff's officials say the boy has been charged as a juvenile in the March 24 slaying of Sam Sadruddin at a Conroe gas station and convenience store. A 19-year-old Conroe man, Joseph Gutierrez, was charged March 28 with capital murder in the slaying.

Montgomery County Attorney J.D. Lambright says the boy is younger than 14 and ineligible for prosecution as an adult. However, Lambright says he could be eligible for up to 40 years in state custody if allegations are confirmed. The boy would remain in juvenile detention until age 19 when a juvenile court would decide discharge or parole the boy or shift him to a state prison.
