Dallas Fire-Rescue Taps Out Fire at Retirement Community

Dallas Fire-Rescue squelched a 2-alarm fire at a retirement home on the 8600 block of Skyline Drive Tuesday morning.

Officials with DFR said they were called after a transformer caught fire about 8-10 feet from a three-story residential building at the Presbyterian Village North retirement community.

When firefighters arrived, they reported seeing thick smoke coming from the transformer.  Once the power was cut, firefighters were able to extinguish the flames.

DFR said there was little threat to the residential building, but that about 20 people were evacuated after a little smoke got inside the building.

No injuries were reported.

NBC 5's Jeff Smith also contributed to this story.
