And now for something completely different -- Longtime fans and those recently introduced to the famous and influential British comedy sketch troupe have been congregating in celebration of 40 years zaniness.
There are still two dates left to witness a tribute show in which eight actors recreate 26 of the best sketches from the TV series and films at the Palace Theatre, along with many other Monty Python-related activities.
All of the silliness goes to two good causes. The first: getting away from the depressing news going on all around.
“Let’s face it, with some of the current problems in the world, we could all use a tremendously silly laugh now and again,” says Bill Fountain, director of the tribute show.
The more tactile benefit is all proceeds going to the Joey Wilkins Foundation founded in honor of Joey Wilkins, a Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau employee partially paralyzed due to a spinal cord injury, that provides financial assistance to individuals with catastrophic spinal cord injuries.
Other Python-inspired wackiness includes a Silly Walk down Main Street, picture taking with a Viking or lumberjack, fish slapping dances, a Spam recipe contest, and much more.
Tell your friends (in semaphore).
