FW sous chef wins ‘Hell’s Kitchen’

An alert and somewhat miffed viewer-reader of NBCDFW sent an e-mail message this morning wanting to know why a Fort Worth sous chef’s win on “Hell’s Kitchen” didn’t make the morning broadcast news.

Um, we were saving it for the website, and here ya go — Nona Sivley, a sous chef from Fort Worth, outlasted the other contestants and weathered the blistering barbs of show host Gordon Ramsay — least I hear he’s somewhat rude on the show; never seen one second of it — to take top culinary honors for this season’s “Hell’s Kitchen,” and good for her.

According to a New York Daily News article, “Sivley will receive as her prize a head chef position at LA Market in the JW Marriott Hotel in Los Angeles and the opportunity to serve as the official spokesperson for Rosemount Estate Wines,” and, again, good for her.

Wait a minute … she’s a former resident of Forth Worth? Well then, who cares?

Besides, it’s another lame-o cooking show anyway.

Bruce Felps owns and operates East Dallas Times, an online community news outlet serving the White Rock Lake area. Please explain to him all the hoopla surrounding these cooking shows. It’s just food.
