Two Women, Two Children Hit by Car While Crossing Crosswalk in Denton

Two women and two children were hit by a car in Denton while crossing the street at a crosswalk on Wednesday evening, police said.A 27-year-old woman was driving west on East McKinney Street when she turned left into the southbound lands of North Loop 288. Two women, 24 and 53, were in the crosswalk with children ages 1, 2 and 6.The driver, who police said was distracted by sunlight, hit the two women and the 1-year-old and 2-year-old crossing the street. The 6-year-old crossing with them was not injured, but the other four had minor, non-incapacitating injuries.The women and children, who were not named, had the traffic light that signaled to cross, police said.The two children and and the 53-year-old were transported to Medical City Denton by ambulance, and the 24-year-old drove herself to the hospital.The driver, who was not named, was not injured. She was cited by Denton police for failure to yield right of way to pedestrian in a crosswalk.  Continue reading...
