Researchers Predict Fewer Hurricanes Than Average in 2019, But Is Texas in the Clear?

Severe spring weather is the biggest concern for local meteorologists right now, but researchers at Colorado State University already have their eyes on hurricane season.The school's initial hurricane forecast predicts 13 named storms this year, with five becoming hurricanes and two of those expected to be major hurricanes — Category 3 or greater. “We anticipate a slightly below-average probability for major hurricanes making landfall along the continental United States coastline and in the Caribbean,” the report says.
