New 8th Street Exit Off Southbound I-35E Moves Half-mile North Toward Downtown Dallas

Dallas commuters hoping to catch the Eighth Street exit on southbound Interstate 35E may have missed their ramp this week.That's because the exit was moved Monday night a half a mile to the north and now shares the bridge used to access Colorado Boulevard and State Highway 180.The permanent Eighth Street exit now uses an overpass next to to the main lanes of southbound I-35E over the Trinity River, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. Drivers headed east on Interstate 30 must take the southbound I-35E exit to access the new exit. The change is part of the $666 million project to rebuild and widen I-35E south of downtown Dallas. The project, known as The Southern Gateway, aims to relieve traffic congestion and improve safety. It's expected to be completed in 2021.   Continue reading...
