J.C. Penney Stock Higher From a Better Results Than Expected

J.C. Penney reported some good news from its third quarter -- a 1.7 percent increase in same-store sales and a smaller loss than expected. And after closing 138 stores, total sales fell 1.8 percent to $2.81 billion, which shows how unproductive some stores had become. Penney's stock price, was trading higher in the pre-market. Shares have been trading at historic lows, gained 24 cents or 9.6 percent, to close Thursday at $2.75 a share. Penney needs a decent holiday quarter. It's opening at 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, an hour earlier than last year and offering its Black Friday specials to online shoppers the Sunday before.  Continue reading...
