A gun in a child's backpack accidentally discharged at an east Oak Cliff elementary school classroom Thursday afternoon, KTVT-TV (Channel 11) reported. No one was injured when the gun discharged in a third-grade classroom at Pease Elementary at the end of the school day Thursday, according to a letter that was sent home to parents on Friday.A "thorough investigation" is underway, according to the letter from the school's interim and assistant principals. They cautioned parents to make sure guns are locked away in a safe location, talk to their children about gun safety, and check their children's backpacks for banned items before school each day.
