Dallas County Commissioner Candidate Drops Lawsuit Seeking to Remove Elections Head From Office

A Republican candidate for Dallas County commissioner dropped a lawsuit Thursday that sought the removal of Elections Administrator Toni Pippins-Poole from office.J.J. Koch, who has drawn controversy while running for northern Dallas County's Precinct 2 seat, said he had little choice but to drop the suit. He said the judge on the case said it could only move forward if District Attorney Faith Johnson joined Koch, which she declined to do. Johnson wrote to the judge on Wednesday, saying she "cannot join the proceeding," because an elections administrator is not subject to the statute that Koch cited in his lawsuit. Johnson said the Dallas County Elections Commission and the Dallas County Commissioners Court have the authority to suspend or fire the elections head.   Continue reading...
